UHF - Ultra High Frequency Cards

UHF (Ultra High Frequency) Tags, Labels and Cards operate at a high frequency. These types of tags are considered “Passive” – no onboard power source. The supply chain related mandates from retailers such as Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club and Metro require that UHF Passive RFID tags be used. These tags must comply with the international recognized standard set by EPCglobal (UHF Gen 2). UHF frequencies typically offer better range (20-30 ft) and can transfer data faster than LF and HF tags, but they use more power and are less likely to pass through materials.

Mifare RFID Card

MIFARE family available for smartcard solutions are MIFARE Classic, MIFARE Plus, MIFARE desire and MIFARE Ultralight . These offer more than 40 different applications, some of which are limited use tickets in public transport (single and multiple trip tickets, tourist weekend passes), event ticketing (stadiums, exhibitions, amusement parks), loyalty and closed-loop payment schemes, access management, employee cards, school cards, citizen cards and for car parking.

Proximity RFID Card

Proximity ID is more commonly called a proximity card or a contactless ID card. These cards use an embedded antenna to communicate with a remote receiver. Proximity cards are read-only devices and are mainly used as security cards for door access. These cards can hold a limited amount of information. According to Alpha Card, a leading installer of proximity card systems, the effective range of these cards is 2.5 inches to 3.9 inches. The range depends on the type of reader being used. Proximity cards operate at a frequency of 13.56MHZ.
